about

Markham Custom Cycle was formed in 2003.

The principal owner of the company is Mark Dafoe.

Mark was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario.

He began to have a love for bikes when he was 3 years old. At the age of 3 his father had a motorcycle in the dining room where his father used to take it apart and rebuild it. As a child his father used to take him to bike shows and Mark became wildly inspired by motorcycles.

Mark owned his first bike when he was 14 years of age. He was 15 when he built his first bike. He kept taking it apart and rebuilding it over and over again. This was common for Mark as he used to take everything apart and rebuild them. Ex. Tape recorders, radios, electronics, record players, you name it, he would take it apart and rebuild it.

Mark had a big fascination on how everything worked.

By the time he was 25 years old he owned his first bike shop called Diamond Custom Cycles in Oakville.

From around the age of 20 thru to 38 he was an avid rider and rode his bikes all over Canada, USA, Europe and a few Caribbean countries. He rode and rode, over 1 million kilometers and loved every minute of it.

He had a few slips and falls along the way.

Mark Dafoe got to a point in his life where he became successful enough to be able to devote more money, time, and energy in his love for motorcycles. He then started taking custom bike building to a whole other dimension.

In 1996 he teamed up with Sam Georgiou and they still are working together making new innovative masterpiece machinery in the motorcycle industry today.

Sam had an extensive background in Aircraft Mechanics, electrical, and schematic intrepretation.

Sam Georgiou, also born and raised in Ontario was very enthusiastic to begin working with Mark as his dream was also to be able to create award winning motorcycles and be a part of a great creative team.

It was the perfect match. They started inventing, designing, hours after hours, building, creating one of a kind machines. This team has many colleagues that work well together with a great degree of knowledge and expertise in engineering as well as custom paint.

In the year 2000 one of their bikes placed 1st at the “Rats Hole in Daytona Beach Florida” Which is a world class custom bike builders competition.

From that time until present this team has won several other awards at show such as The North American Motorcycle Supershow year after year. Their most recent achievements are as follows: This bike “Skull Cruncher II” is truly a one of a kind Masterpiece. Best Engine 2007, Best Engine 2008 Best Engineering 2008, Best Individual Display, 2008, Best in Show 2008, Winners of the Canada Cup 2008 with $ 12,000 Supercash and a 6 foot trophy.

Also in 2007 they built a bike for a cancer patient whom passed away shortly after his bike was built. (See article in the Toronto Sun)

This bike was raffled off and $10,000 was donated to the Princess Margaret hospital as a tribute to this individual.

One of a kind collectors of exquisite pieces of art have been in contact with Mark on an international level wanting him to bring their ideas to life on a motorcycle.

It truly has been a remarkable ride.

Mark Dafoe, Sam Georgiou and Markham Custom Cycle are in the present stages of coming out with even more wild inventions, creations and designs in the years to come.

They are proud to be in Markham, Ontario and have put Markham, Ontario in the sportlight winning the “Canada Cup” in their industry this year. No one in Ontario has won this honor for over 10 years.

They had a photoshoot and interview with Easy Rider magazine at the International Supershow where they won the Canada Cup.
